Two Feral Cats Got A Second Chance In Life All Because Of A Joke

When we think of lifelong friendships, we often assume it’s a human-only experience. But, surprisingly, our feline friends can also form strong bonds with each other!

Meet Suzie Q and Anna, two adorable cats who share a heartwarming story of friendship and a second chance at a happy life.

Rescued from the streets by the Ontario Feral Cat Project (OFCP), Suzie Q and Anna were once feral cats living in the wild.

OFCP is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the feral cat population through trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs and finding forever homes for these amazing animals.

Feral cats are often independent and lack social skills, making it challenging to domesticate them.

However, with patience, love, and care, they can transform into loving indoor pets. Suzie Q and Anna are perfect examples of this incredible transformation!

Suzie Q, a 9-month-old kitten, was trapped and brought to OFCP with her mom and littermates. She was playful and affectionate but not fond of being picked up.

The shelter volunteers believed she just needed time to adjust to human contact. Suzie Q was friendly with humans and other cats, often sticking her paw out of her cage for pets and kisses.

She would rub against the bars, purring contentedly, and even initiate playtime with her feline friends.

Anna, on the other hand, was trapped at 7 months old without her mom or littermates. Despite this, she quickly adjusted to human kindness and loved cuddles.

Her friendly personality made her a perfect feline companion, and she was soon adopted. Anna’s new family was delighted by her playful nature and affectionate head butts.

However, Anna was returned to the shelter when she showed aggression towards the family dog.

This wasn’t Anna’s fault; introducing feral cats to resident pets requires a slow and careful approach. OFCP took Anna back and resumed their search for a loving home.

That’s when Julie, a cat mom of two, saw Anna’s picture and expressed interest in adopting her.

Julie had already been a proud cat momma of two adorable felines, B.S. and Gremlin, so she was no stranger to raising furbabies. She had a small delay, so Anna was fostered by Kerri until Julie could pick her up.

During this time, Kerri jokingly suggested Julie adopt Suzie Q as well, saying “four is the perfect number!”

To everyone’s surprise, Julie took the suggestion to heart and adopted both Suzie Q and Anna! The two cats had already formed a bond, and Julie wanted to keep them together.

She shared pictures and videos of the girls settling into their new home, getting along with B.S. and Gremlin, and even initiating playtime with their new toys.

Suzie Q and Anna’s story is a heartwarming reminder that even feral cats can form strong friendships and thrive in loving homes.

Their journey from street life to forever friends is a testament to the power of love, patience, and second chances. If you have a similar story, feel free to share it with us!
